About us

The objective of our addiction medicine department is to offer a wide range of quality care services, all in one place. In-hospital care is provided by the ELSA, and outpatient care by CSAPA, consultations for treatment of tobacco use and dependence and CJC. Consultations can be individual, or in group; patient's friends and families are welcome to come.

  • Our ELSA essentially provides care inside the hospital, with consultations "at the patient's bed" in all hospital departments, for all types of addiction. They also train teams. Their role in outpatient care is only punctual (diagnosis, orientation towards another department / specialist, and post-hospitalization referral).

  • Our CSAPA offers treatment for patients with addiction to illicit psychoactive substances; we can provide substitution treatment for opiates, diverted drugs and behavioural addictions within the centre.

More precisely, outpatients can benefit from cannabis withdrawal, serological screening and treatment for hepatitis C, analysis of consumed products by thin layer chromatography (partnership with the CAARUD "Pause Diabolo") and from other actions regarding risk and damage reduction.

  • Anyone can consult for the treatment of tobacco use and dependence; consultations are individual.

  • Adolescents and young adults from 16 to 25 years old, questioning their consumption of psychoactive products (tobacco, cannabis) can attend the CJC. These consultations focus primarily on EHH emergency department patients, but other CJCs in the Lyon area may refer patients to us, as psychiatrists and a neuropsychologist are present in EHH.

Six doctors, a pharmacist, five nurses, four psychologists, a social worker and a secretary make up our service.

Besides consultations with doctors and nurses:

  • in-house psychologists offer individual care (psychological support, psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy), neuropsychological assessments (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, High Potential, impaired cognition) and therapy workshops;

  • patients can consult our pharmacist to discuss the effects and dangers of various products; to learn how to use Nalscue® properly; to talk about detection of disease, and/or to find a community pharmacy to continue dispensation;

  • patients can benefit from social welfare to help them regain their social autonomy, and support them in various day-to-day administrative procedures (assistance in managing debt, applying for adult disability allowance; finding housing, opening or maintaining social security rights, labor rights, etc.)
